Hemkund Sahib : - This scared Sikh shrine is situated on the shores of the Hemkund lake (4320mt.). It marks the place where Guru Govind Singh, the tenth and last Guru, unified with God after prolonged meditation in his previous birth. The guru's autobiography, which contains a description of the place, helped two devout Sikhs, Sant Sohan Singh and Havaldar Mohan singh to rediscover it. According to Hindu mythology, Hemkund or Lokpal as it is also known is where Lakshman had done his penance. Hemkund Lake is about 2km in circumference. Its clear, still waters mirror images of the Saptashringa Peaks (5500mtrs) which surround it. Bits of ice still float on the waters between July and October, the best season to visit Hemkund. The rockstrewn shores of the lake are covered with moss and flowers in bloom.  

Best time to visit Hemkund Sahib Yatra : -  Hemkund Sahib ji opens every year in the first week of June - 5th June and pilgrimage can visit  this holy sikh shrine up to 5 October. July - August is monsoon period, So few people do not visit that time but July - August is also the best time to visit Valley of flower.

Hemkund Sahib Yatra Itinerary

Day 1: Delhi - Haridwar (230 kms/6hrs) - Arrival Delhi Railway Station, Meet & Assist further drive to Haridwar. Later drive to Haridwar transfer to your Hotel. Visit Har-ki-Pauri for Ganga Aarti in evening. Back to your hotel, Night halt.

Valley of Flowers National Park is an Indian national park, Nestled high in West Himalaya, is renowned for its meadows of endemic alpine flowers and outstanding natural beauty. This richly diverse area is also home to rare and endangered animals, including the Asiatic black bear, snow leopard, brown bear and blue sheep. The gentle landscape of the Valley of Flowers National Park complements the rugged mountain wilderness of Nanda Devi National Park. The park stretches over an expanse of 87.50 km². A number of plant species are internationally threatened, several have not been recorded from elsewhere in Uttarakhand and two have not been recorded in Nanda Devi National Park. The diversity of threatened species of medicinal plants is higher than has been recorded in other Indian Himalayan protected areas. The Valley of Flowers was declared a national park in 1982.

Best time to visit Valley of flowers : -Valley of flowers opens every year in the first week of June and till 1st week of October you can visit. But the best period to explore is monsoon time which is 15th July to 15th August.
